Update
September 2013
67 Days till the WTM!!! Looking for sponsors while I continue to train, it doesn’t have to be much as little as $25 helps me get closer, or get a group together and each pitch in $10. Would really like to have this sponsoring out of the way so I can focus more on training. If you can help click on the Sponsor link and thanks so much in advance!

WORLDS TOUGHEST MUDDER - November 2013
March 2013
I think I need to get on my Web master (AKA Daughter) about updating my site. Completed my Physio in February and had my consult with my Neurologist last week. All is well he sees no reason to operate and gave me the green light "Go for it" best comment of the visit "Good news you’re not dying" he was the same Dr. successfully performed my disc fusion 8 years ago.
Little did he know that 2 weeks before seeing him I bough myself the Eastern Conference Canadian Season pass for the Spartan Races and well committed to the Trifecta and as many other Spartan races I want to do in Eastern Canada as a warm up for the WTM.
I also registered for the Tough Mudder race in Montreal
Here are my race dates
June 15 (Ottawa) - Spartan Sprint
June 30th (Montreal)- Spartan Super
July 7th (Montreal) - Tough Mudder
July 21st (Ottawa) - Spartan Beast
The Thing here is, if I can squeeze in the other Spartan Sprint on the 16th in Ottawa and find another Super to hit in May I can have a Double Trifecta which would be a great accomplishment.
So the Training has stepped up I am now using the Runtastic suite of apps for my training
Runtastic - For my runs
The Runtastic PUMP IT Series - for Push-ups. Chin-ups, Sit-ups and Squats
Runtastic Timer - for my Tabata timing for my Burpees (No real link but if you search for it at the Apple Store or Android Market you will find it.
For the rest of the winter until the trails open up (April I am hoping) I am aiming at 3 X 21Ks a week with other training in between.

Jan 2013
It’s been nearly 2 months since the WTM. Here is what happened
1 mile from the 4th lap I in 30th place, running strong feeling great (100% actually) when I completed my first swim across the pond (approx 75 - 100 m) then began my 20ft climb up the Pirate Booty.
Near the top of the climb my arms went numb and I lost strength in my arms and fell into the shin deep water below, not wanting to quit (and the adrenalin kicking in) I attempted 2 more tries falling both times (once on a fellow Mudder, thankfully he was not injured).
On my 4th try (Thanks to fellow Mudders) I managed to get up the Pirate Booty and began to run to the next obstacle (the swim back under water tunnels).
As I was running back I realized my right arm was completely numb, being that I had had a disc fusion of my C6/C7 vertebra 8 years prior I was well aware of what that feeling meant.
I spent many minutes talking to myself, trying to figure out what to do, being that there were mandatory climbing obstacles and that fact that I knew what type of Injury I had, I felt it best to pull out of the competition, this was the hardest decision I had made.
Once I got home I had an MRI done and visited my Chiropractor. Turns out I had 3 displaced ribs, neck hyper extension, and a Herniated disc between my C4/C5 that sticks out 7mm in the front and 3mm out the back of my vertebra.
So I have been in Physio 3 times a week, plus chiropractor and slowly getting back to normal, I still have numbness in my fingers and the strength in my arm is returning.
I am back training and preparing for 2013, and I am gunning for Top 10 at this year’s WTM!
Stay tuned
